Artists from Sheffield
- Cabaret Voltaire
Formed in Sheffield in 1973, Cabaret Voltaire were working in parallel with Throbbing Gristle almost from the start, building songs out of musique concrète, tape loops, and synthesizers while pulling ideas from Burroughs, Ballard, and Kraftwerk.
- Pulp
Jarvis Cocker had been running Pulp out of Sheffield since 1978, and the music papers noticed early: in 1986 Sounds called them a "new hard centre" in indie pop, and a Melody Maker live review heard "sudden drum rumbles and savage violin wails".
- Arctic Monkeys
A Sheffield band, formed in 2002, whose rise ran alongside the London scene and changed how new bands were found.

- Cabaret Voltaire1975-1982 · UK Post-Punk
Not to be confused with the band of the same name, this Sheffield venue was central to the city's experimental post-punk scene, hosting early performances by Clock DVA, Artery, and visiting Manchester and London acts during the late 1970s.
