Known as Iran's 'Sultan of Jazz,' pioneering artist whose 1954 single 'Moonlight' became the first Iranian jazz song—an instant radio hit that opened doors for fusion experiments between Persian and western forms, establishing possibilities that rock musicians would later exploit. Also played drums in The Raptures' 1967 lineup with Kourosh Yaghmaei.
