Madness

1976-1986, 1992-present·London

Madness came from Camden Town in north London, where the core of the band had started in 1976 as the North London Invaders; in 1979 they renamed themselves after a Prince Buster song. Their one 2 Tone single, "The Prince", a tribute to Buster, reached No 16, and they moved to Stiff Records for the next, a cover of Buster's "One Step Beyond".
