Artist
Errol Thompson
Engineer at Randy's Studio 17 and Aquarius Studio who co-pioneered dub alongside King Tubby and Lee Perry. His 1970 work on Derrick Harriott's The Undertaker—one of the first purely instrumental reggae albums—showed that instrumental tracks could stand alone. Working with Herman Chin Loy, Thompson helped establish dub as a commercial form. His mixes were precise and powerful, less chaotic than Perry's experiments but equally imaginative. Died in 2004.
