Emerson, Lake & Palmer
The British prog supergroup's connection to Italy ran through bassist Greg Lake, who caught PFM's live show while ELP toured the country and signed them to his own label, Manticore Records, in 1972. Lake heard technical chops that matched anything coming out of Britain, paired with a melodic warmth and accessibility he felt British prog sometimes lacked.
