Arto Lindsay, Robin Crutchfield, and Ikue Mori pushed no wave's anti-melody stance about as far as it could go. Lindsay played guitar like it was being taken apart piece by piece; Crutchfield's organ landed in discordant stabs; Mori's drums showed no interest in keeping any kind of conventional time. DNA's contribution to No New York remains some of the compilation's most difficult listening—atonal, confrontational, packed dense with texture.
