Cannibal Corpse started in Buffalo, New York in 1988, but Tampa is where they made their name, relocating specifically to be near Morrisound Recording and the engineer who understood their sound. Suffocation's Terrance Hobbs called Morrisound "the Mecca for death metal and heavy metal" through the 1990s — a studio that pulled bands from around the world simply because they wanted to work close to it.
