Artist
Bernard Edwards
Bernard Edwards co-founded Chic with Nile Rodgers in 1977, and it was his basslines, more than any other single element, that gave the band its backbone. Where Rodgers's guitar work supplied Chic's percussive texture, Edwards's bass carried the actual weight and forward motion of the songs, anchoring arrangements that otherwise stayed deliberately spare.
