Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah / Our Troubled Youth

This 1993 split album documented the transatlantic feminist punk connection between the American and British riot grrrl scenes, a link made possible by Liz Naylor's chance 1991 meeting with Kathi Wilcox in Europe. It arrived in 1993, the year Huggy Bear's performance on The Word drew immediate backlash from the British mainstream press and the two bands toured the UK together. Kathleen Hanna has said that meeting Huggy Bear, and seeing how they combined real fun with sharp gender politics, gave Bikini Kill a confidence boost at a moment when just being a band felt like a daily fight, as she told Dazed.
