Tottenham emerged as North London's primary grime hub, producing Skepta and JME (who founded Boy Better Know in 2005), creating a bridge between East London's originators and broader London grime. The area developed its own pirate radio presence and MC crews that engaged in legendary clashes with East London artists on various FM frequencies. Tottenham's contribution helped expand grime's geographic footprint beyond its East London epicenter while maintaining the genre's raw, confrontational essence.
