Omaha sits at the geographic and cultural margins of the Midwest emo scene, with Saddle Creek Records not founded until 1993 and its defining emo-adjacent acts emerging after 2000. The city's 1990s punk and indie scenes develop largely parallel to rather than integrated with the Illinois-centered emo explosion.
