The Selecter
The Selecter began as the name on the B-side of "Gangsters". When that single reached No 6, Neol Davies put a band together from Coventry players he knew: Desmond Brown on Hammond organ, Charley Anderson on bass, Compton Amanor on guitar, Charley "Aitch" Bembridge on drums and Arthur "Gaps" Hendrickson on vocals, all of whom had played the local scene in bands such as the Ray King Soul Band and Hard Top 22.
