Skinny Puppy
Formed in Vancouver in 1982 and signed to Nettwerk, Skinny Puppy built a dark, sample-dense sound that would feed directly into the next decade's industrial breakthrough. Frontman Nivek Ogre crossed over to sing with Ministry on The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste, one of several connections that tied Skinny Puppy's underground world to the genre's coming commercial moment; their influence runs clearly through both Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson.
