Osanna

1971-1978, 2001-present·Naples

Naples-based prog band who won the 1971 Viareggio festival alongside PFM, launching the Italian prog scene. Their fusion of progressive rock with Mediterranean folk traditions represented the southern Italian contribution to the movement, proving that Italian prog wasn't just a northern phenomenon. The Naples accent—both musical and cultural—brought different textures and rhythms that distinguished Osanna from their Rome and Milan counterparts.
