Nasty Savage

1983-present·Brandon

Formed in Brandon, Florida in the early 1980s, Nasty Savage pioneered the theatrical violence that became death metal's signature. Frontman Ron Galletti earned the nickname "Nasty Ronnie" through stage shows involving blood and gore. The band recorded their first album at Morrisound in the mid-1980s, predating the death metal explosion but establishing the studio's credibility with extreme bands. As kids, Obituary's Tardy brothers rode their bikes to Galletti's home and asked him how they could start a band. When Nasty Savage released Jeopardy Room in late 2024—their first album in 20 years—it included "Witches Sabbath," a collaboration with the Tardy brothers. Jim Morris loved recording it: "It's always fun to work with Ron, with that smile on his face. He's willing to try anything and go anywhere."
