Artist
Mdou Moctar
2000s-present
Mdou Moctar carries the nickname 'Hendrix of the Sahara' for a reason: his guitar playing takes the hypnotic, droning lines of desert blues and pushes them somewhere louder and more overtly psychedelic. Alongside fellow Nigerien Bombino, Moctar belongs to a younger generation of desert guitarists who came up after Tinariwen.
