Lo'Jo
The French world-music group Lo'Jo made first contact with Tinariwen at a 1998 festival in Bamako, a meeting that changed the trajectory of both bands. Lo'Jo, based in Angers, brought the Tuareg musicians to France to perform under the name Azawad, and alongside manager Manny Ansar co-founded the Festival in the Desert in 2001, the event that would introduce Tinariwen and the wider Tuareg music scene to journalists, promoters and fans from outside Africa.
