Artist
Larry Levan
Larry Levan took the booth at Paradise Garage in 1977, before the club was finished, and held it for the next decade, turning Saturday nights into a ritual regulars called Saturday Mass. He'd cut his teeth earlier at Nicky Siano's club the Gallery, absorbing an approach to DJing built around emotional pacing rather than technical display, a lesson he carried with him for the rest of his career.
