Pacific

CBS/Sony Sound Image Series collaboration demonstrating exotica influences and electronic production techniques that connected Hosono's experimental work with mainstream city pop. Showed how synthesizers and Pacific sounds could be incorporated into accessible pop framework, bridging the gap between Hosono's more avant-garde explorations and Yamashita's commercial sophistication. The collaboration demonstrated the cross-pollination between different strands of Tokyo's music scene in the late 1970s.
