1959-1994·Chicago

Major Lance (1939-1994) grew up in Chicago and went to the same high school as Curtis Mayfield, who wrote many of his hits for Okeh: "The Monkey Time" (1963) and "Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um" (1964), which reached No 5 in the US. Okeh records like his were prized on the Northern soul scene.
