Artist
Ólafur Arnalds
Composer and multi-instrumentalist from Mosfellsbær, active from 2004, who bridged classical composition and electronic production, creating cinematic music that influenced the neo-classical genre of the 2010s. His work demonstrated Iceland's continued innovation in hybrid acoustic-electronic sound, following the template established by Björk and Sigur Rós of incorporating classical arrangements with electronic production. Part of a generation that included Nils Frahm who blurred lines between composition and production, proving experimental music could be emotionally accessible.
